Meeting the Needs of Our Community: A K-5 Year-Long Service-Learning Project

How young is too young to raise social consciousness in students? Discover how a year-long service- learning project empowered K-5 students in Upper Arlington. Kids were able to learn about food and housing insecurity, including actionable steps that included making Move-In Kits for Home for Families and building and installing five free little pantries in Central Ohio. Walk away with an actionable blueprint to integrate empathy instruction, cross-grade collaboration, and impactful community partnerships in your school district. This session provides an honest look at the logistical realities, community partner integration, and strategies required to foster a culture of active, compassionate citizenship in students.
