Dr. Kristin Bourdage is a passionate educator with more than 32 years of experience as a middle school and Title I Reading teacher, literacy coach, education researcher, professor of education, district administrator, and professional learning leader. She currently serves as a professional learning facilitator and instructional designer at Partnerships for Authentic Learning and Leadership, where she supports district-wide authentic learning initiatives across the country.
Kristin specializes in innovative pedagogies, including service-learning, project-based learning, design thinking connected to career and workforce readiness, and dialogic teaching. She is the co-author of Quality Talk about Text (Heinemann), has published dozens of articles about teacher professional development and literacy learning, and is a passionate advocate for educators and schools. Her favorite aspect of the authentic learning models is fostering connections and dialogue between students and people in their communities, creating learning experiences that inspire curiosity, problem-solving, purpose, and lasting impact. When not teaching, she’s reading a book on her deck, cooking for friends and family, or hiking on a trail that’s off the beaten path.
